How to Give a Good Sports Massage

How to Give a Good Sports Massage

The sports massage is one of the most intense of all types of massages. You are going to have to make sure that the athlete is always in the best of shape and that their muscles are all properly warmed up, loose and limber, so that they are going to be ready to play and have less chances of getting injured.

The sports massage can vary in terms of length and technique, but a good sports relaxation massage is going to help to relieve stress and tension in the muscles of each athlete and leave them with a sense of comfort and wellbeing. Typically a sports massage is performed after a game, when their muscles are tired and swollen from being used so intensely for the duration of the game.

However, often time a sports massage will also be given before a game, so that the athlete’s muscles are going to be warmed up and ready to be used so they will have less chances of spraining a muscle or tearing a ligament.

How to do it

Now if you want to know how to give a good sports massage, there are a few things that you are going to need to do. The first step is going to be for you to gather the supplies that you are going to need, namely a massage table and some oils. Essential oils are the best to use for this type of massage because not only do they help your hands to move around on their body, but as well the aromatherapy of the essential oils is going to help.

There are different tips and techniques that you can use, but you should generally always start at the neck and then work your way down the body. Make sure that you rub the body in circles that aim towards the heart, so that you are promoting blood flow and helping them to feel better.

Make sure that you set up a good environment in the room as well, because this is going to have a huge effect on how well the massage goes. You want to make sure that you get a relaxing atmosphere for the person before giving them the massage. Get some relaxing music playing, light a few candles, and of course the aromatherapy factor is going to play a major role, because they will smell the oils and this will help them even more to get relaxed.
